Return to "Miscellaneous"You can password protect any of your directories to grant only specific users access. In order to password protect a directory within your Plesk control panel:
• Log into your Plesk through your customer manager at https://my.christianwebhost.com
• Click on “My Products” and then “Control Panel” across from your hosting package
• Once logged in, click on the “Home” link from the right hand navigation
• Next, click on the “Protected Directories” icon
• Click on the “Add Protected Directory” icon.
• You will then need to choose the directory you wish to protect by typing the path to the file in the “Directory Name” field.
• New directories will be created on the server if they do not exist already
• You can choose to have the directory be non-SSL, SLL or both.
• You can also choose whether or not to have a cgi-bin folder created within the protected directory
• Entering “Header Text” will display a message to the user when they are prompted to log into the protected directory
• Click the “OK” button to create the protected directory
Next you’ll need to create users for your protected directories:
• Select the “Add New User” icon
• Fill out the form for the user information and click “OK”
Now, when trying to access this directory on the web, only those with the user credentials you’ve specified will be able to access this directory.
